ORIGINE GLEE E PERCHE' CANTANO CANZONI IN GLEE
Glee è una serie televisiva statunitense, prodotta dal 2009 e trasmessa da Fox.
L'episodio pilota è stato trasmesso negli Stati Uniti il 19 maggio 2009, con ascolti record ed un ampio consenso di critica, mentre la prima stagione è andata in onda regolarmente a partire dal 9 settembre dello stesso anno. Grazie al successo ottenuto in patria e nel mondo, nel corso del mese di maggio 2010, la serie è stata ufficialmente e anticipatamente rinnovata per la seconda e terza stagione. In Italia, la serie viene trasmessa in prima visione satellitare da Fox a partire dal 25 dicembre 2009.
Inizialmente concepita come un film, la serie è ideata da Ryan Murphy, già creatore di serie come Nip/Tuck e Popular, e sviluppata assieme a Brad Falchuk e Ian Brennan. La serie è incentrata su una compagnia di canto corale, conosciuta negli Stati Uniti come Glee club, della fittizia William McKinley High School a Lima, in Ohio. Concepita in maniera differente rispetto ai classici teen drama, la serie dà un ampio risalto alla musica, confezionando di puntata in puntata dei mini musical. Dopo la messa in onda dell'episodio settimanale, i brani interpretati nel corso della puntata vengono messi a disposizione su iTunes.
Inoltre sono state pubblicate, su etichetta Columbia Records diverse compilation intitolate Glee: The Music, Volume 1, Glee: The Music, Volume 2 e Glee: The Music, Volume 3: Showstoppers, Glee: The Music, Volume 4. Tutte le canzoni eseguite nell'episodio Come Madonna sono state rilasciate come singoli e sono state raccolte nell'album Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna. Le canzoni eseguite alle gare regionali sono state raccolte nell'album Glee: The Music, Journey To Regionals e le canzoni eseguite nell'episodio The Rocky Horror Glee Show sono state anch'esse raccolte in un album The Rocky Horror Glee Show. Inoltre il cast di Glee ha inciso anche un album di canzoni Natalizie The Glee Christmas Album rilasciato il 16 novembre in America.
In Italia l'episodio pilota è stato trasmesso in anteprima su Fox il 25 dicembre 2009, mentre la prima stagione è andata in onda a partire da giovedì 21 gennaio 2010[1].
Dal 21 settembre 2010 negli Stati Uniti è partita la seconda stagione. In Italia viene invece trasmessa a partire dal 2 dicembre 2010 sul canale satellitare Fox. Dal 10 gennaio 2011 è anche trasmesso su Italia 1.
